Maria Loses Her Credit Card!
It was a normal Tuesday afternoon. Maria was at her favorite coffee shop, waiting for her iced latte. She reached into her bag to take out her wallet. Her heart started beating faster. Her credit card was missing!
“Oh no!” she said to herself. She searched her bag again, faster this time. But the credit card was not there. Maria felt scared. What if someone was using her card right now? What if her money was all gone?
Maria stood up quickly, and her chair fell behind her with a loud noise. Everyone in the coffee shop looked at her. “I lost my credit card,” she said quietly, feeling nervous.
She ran out of the coffee shop, her mind full of worries. Where could it be? She remembered the last place she used it—the supermarket. Maria ran down the street to the supermarket. She pushed the door open and went to the cashier.
“Excuse me, did anyone find a credit card?” she asked, her voice shaking a little.
The cashier looked at her and then nodded. “Wait here,” she said. Maria’s heart was beating fast as she watched the cashier walk to the back of the store. She worried that someone had taken her card and used all her money.
Finally, the cashier came back. She had Maria’s card. Maria felt so happy she almost cried. “Thank you,” she said, taking the card.
The cashier smiled and said, “You left it here yesterday.” Maria felt embarrassed. She remembered now—she was busy talking and forgot to take her card.
Maria took her card and walked out of the supermarket. “I need to be more careful,” she said to herself. As she walked back to the coffee shop, she felt tired but also very relieved. She knew she was lucky this time and would be more careful in the future.
