Chapter 1: Jade’s Morning Madness

Jade woke up late again. She jumped out of bed, looked at the clock, and gasped, “Oh no! I’m going to be late for work!” Her hair was a mess, and she had only one sock on. She quickly grabbed her toothbrush and started brushing her teeth while running around the house.

She grabbed a shirt from the floor. “No time to iron!” she thought and put it on, only to realize it was inside out. She looked for her shoes but could only find one of them. “Where is my other shoe?” she shouted, checking under the couch, inside the fridge, and even in the microwave. Finally, she found it in the shower. “How did it get here?” she wondered but had no time to think.

Jade ran out the door and jumped on her bike. She pedaled fast, but halfway to work, a cat jumped in front of her. She swerved and crashed into a pile of oranges on a street vendor’s cart. The vendor shouted, “Hey! You have to pay for those oranges!” Jade apologized, grabbed two oranges, threw some coins at the vendor, and continued pedaling with orange juice dripping from her hair.

When she arrived at work, she was a mess: one shoe wet, her shirt still inside out, and her hair full of orange peels. Her boss was waiting at the door with a stern face. “Jade, why are you late this time?” he asked.

Jade smiled and replied, “Well, you won’t believe it, but a cat, an orange cart, and my shower had a plan to make me late today!” Her boss raised an eyebrow, and Jade knew she would need a better excuse next time.

But for now, she had to figure out how to get the orange smell out of her hair…

Chapter 2: Jade’s Unlucky Lunch – Funny story about being late to work

Jade managed to survive the morning, but now it was lunchtime. She thought, “Nothing else can go wrong today.” She decided to eat at her desk to make up for being late. She opened her lunch bag and pulled out a container of spaghetti. “At least I didn’t forget my lunch,” she sighed, feeling a bit better.

Jade tried to open the container, but the lid was stuck. She pulled harder, and suddenly, the lid flew off, launching spaghetti everywhere! A noodle landed on her boss’s head, another on the photocopier, and some sauce splashed on the office plant. Jade gasped, “Oh no! I’m so sorry!” Her boss, now with a spaghetti noodle dangling from his ear, gave her a look that said, “Really, Jade?”

Feeling embarrassed, she decided to clean up. She grabbed a mop, but as she turned around, she knocked over the office printer. It fell to the floor with a loud crash, scattering papers everywhere. The whole office went silent. Jade’s face turned red. “I… I’ll fix it!” she shouted, trying to gather the papers quickly.

Just then, Jade’s phone started ringing loudly. She panicked and dropped the mop, which hit the fire alarm button. Suddenly, the alarm started blaring, and water from the sprinklers began pouring down. Everyone in the office screamed and ran for cover.

Jade stood there soaked, holding a handful of papers and spaghetti sauce dripping from her hair. Her boss, now completely wet, walked over to her and asked, “Jade… What happened this time?”

Jade blinked and said, “Well, you see, the spaghetti and the printer… had a fight, and then the fire alarm decided to join in!” Her boss just sighed deeply and walked away.

Jade knew she had to find a better explanation next time… if there was a next time.

Chapter 3: Jade’s Heroic Ending – Funny story about being late to work

After the lunchtime disaster, Jade was determined to make it through the rest of the day without causing any more chaos. “I just need to sit still, do my work, and everything will be fine,” she thought. But Jade being Jade, staying out of trouble was never that simple.

While typing an email, she noticed a tiny spider crawling on her desk. “A spider!” she shrieked. She grabbed a nearby file and tried to gently push it away, but instead, she accidentally flung the spider across the room. The spider landed on her co-worker Dan’s keyboard, and he jumped up, shouting, “It’s on me! It’s on me!”

Panicking, Jade grabbed her stapler, thinking it could help. She raced over to Dan’s desk, but in her rush, she tripped over the office plant — the same plant still recovering from its earlier spaghetti bath. Jade stumbled forward, sending the plant flying out the window. She landed on Dan’s chair and accidentally stapled a stack of papers… to his shirt.

Her boss appeared in the doorway, dripping water from the earlier sprinkler incident, and saw the scene: Dan with papers stapled to his shirt, Jade on the floor holding a stapler, and the rest of the office looking bewildered. He closed his eyes and sighed, “Jade… please explain.”

Jade stood up, brushing herself off, and said, “Well, I was trying to save Dan from a vicious spider, and then the plant decided it wanted some fresh air. And… maybe the stapler was just hungry?”

Her boss took a deep breath and said, “Jade, I think we all need a break.” Just then, a loud beeping noise filled the office. Jade looked down and realized she was standing on the emergency button under Dan’s desk.

The loudspeaker announced, “Emergency drill in progress. Please evacuate!” The entire office began to laugh.

Jade looked around, seeing everyone smiling, even her boss, who finally chuckled and said, “Well, Jade, you’ve definitely made this day unforgettable!”

Jade smiled back and replied, “At least I’m good for team morale!”

As they all walked out of the building together, Jade felt a little proud. She might have been a mess, but at least she brought some unexpected excitement to the office. And as for being late? She thought maybe, just maybe, her boss would forgive her… tomorrow.
